The Company

Over the last 40 years, our client has been supporting women and children experiencing family violence. They provide a support network and are a specialist family violence service located in Victoria’s Southern Region. Their organisation is poised for an exciting change as their service delivery model has been redesigned to offer integrated, therapeutic services from commencement, a radical shift to promote early, maximum and sensitive recovery from trauma and achievement of independence for women and children.

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Communications Officer to join their company in the City of Kingston, VIC, with the potential to earn 

The primary purpose of this position is to generate strategic, targeted and credible communications that raise the company's profile, create support for their service expansion, and promote a reduction in domestic violence.

Reporting directly to Executive Officer some of your responsibilities include:

  • Refresh the company's key messages and identify ways to ensure the story is consistent, compelling and distinct 
  • Maintain the company's online presence, ensuring that the website is updated frequently and accurately 
  • Identify and implement strategies to increase the value of the relationships between key stakeholders 
  • Facilitate and advocate access to a wide range of information, services and resources
  • Attend relevant meetings to ensure your information and skills are in line with contemporary issues 

About You

To be successful in this role you will have tertiary qualifications in communications, PR or related field with demonstrated experience in SMO, SEO, copywriting and proofing. Additionally, to be considered for this position you will a current Police Check, Working with Children Check and a current Victorian Drivers Licence. 

Candidates are also expected to have a demonstrated understanding of feminist practice and how this is used as a framework to understand and responding to the gendered nature of violence against women.
